Taking the monograph glass plate, photographed and placed into photoshop to edit the black to red. The heightened contrast and colours makes the light glare more yellow. Yellow and red are primarily very "Lego" colours.

Studio Practice

Catalogue Rationale.

For this project I am going to be looking and researching into phobias. I will be staying away from the well known and concentrate on the more bizarre. To get a collection I will try and research into a fair number of phobias and pick the ones which I believe will make an interesting image. When it comes to image making I want to continue researching and exploring into print making. I ventured into this slightly on the Reflective Practice module and highly enjoyed it. Instead of using lino printing again I shall research into what other techniques can be used.

 

Competition Rationale.

For this project I have decided to enter a competition for Lego. The brief from the company is to re-establish brand loyalty in any medium and format. For this I have returned back to my pen and ink drawings which I have neglected slightly since moving more into a printing way of working, although I will not totally abandon this and see if there’s a way to incorporate printing into this project too. As a side of this project I will research into the company to find information out which could be useful to the images that I will end up creating.

 

Cynicism Rationale.

As a way of depicting cynicism I intend to try and find three sayings, as I need to create three separate images. These sayings that I’m trying to find will often been seen as positive and optimistic and I’ll try turn them on their heads. Taking something and changing it to mean something else interests me hugely. Considering my way of working has drifted into one of print making I will continue to use printing in this project too. As a way of putting text with these images I shall use rubber stamps as printed text may not suit the prints.
